Awareness of Digital Violence
Day 4 of 16 Days of Activism: Recognizing Cyberbullying
Step 1: Identify the Pattern
Cyberbullying is not a single incident. It is repeated, targeted behavior designed to harm.
The questions that reveal the pattern:
Has this happened more than once? Is the behavior escalating over time?
Does it follow the target across different platforms? Does it continue despite requests to stop?
A single rude comment is inappropriate. A sustained pattern of attacks is cyberbullying.
In workplaces and communities, recognizing these patterns is essential. What appears as isolated incidents may actually be coordinated harassment, particularly against women and girls in digital spaces.
If you see a pattern, you are witnessing abuse.
Digital violence is escalating: cyberbullying, image-based abuse, stalking, sextortion, harassment. Every day, women and girls are being silenced, harmed, and left without support.
We cannot stay quiet. This year, we break the silence.
